On 2 May 1902 Benito Oliver Rodés, Doctor in Pharmacy, decided to create a laboratory register with independent numbering from the prescription ledger kept at the pharmacy he owned in Roger de Llúria street, Barcelona, Spain.

This point in time represents the founding of the analytical laboratory, which has continued to operate without interruption, celebrating its first one hundred years in the year 2002.
In the early 1900's, a pharmacist was also considered an "analyst." As a result, Dr. Oliver Rodés' archives preserved in their entirety contain analytical results for water, chemicals, clinical biochemistry, minerals, food, etc.

In 1928 Dr. Benito Oliver Suñé, who was Dr. Benito Oliver Rodés' grandson, joined the laboratory staff adding clinical, food, and industrial microbiology to the laboratory's list of activities.
In 1974, his grandson Benet Oliver-Rodés Clapés assumed the family legacy and decided to intensify the firm's interest in the analysis of all kinds of water and in food microbiology, withdrawing from other fields in order to give priority to specialization in analyses as well as professional, technical, and legal consulting.

Nowadays, Jorge Oliver-Rodés Sen, the Laboratory founder's great-grandson, continues the family tradition as Manager of the company. In 2000 the firm moved from its historical location in Consell de Cent street, 306, Barcelona, Spain, to the current facilities in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona) where an expert team consolidates a future project: an independent and highly specialized Laboratory.
